Hey Reader, do you know the power of compounding? Not just in money, but in action to?
Today I wanted to pop into your inbox and talk about small 1% shifts we can make towards our goals.
In my 20s I used to think that action looked like working long days, going really hard and grinding. I was all about the hustle culture and thought it was how it was meant to be. Since coming into my 30s it feels like I have learnt so slow down a little, get a lot more strategic and work much much smarter.
I now believe that small consistent action is where the real game is. I value that much more than the random long bursts. I'm also now a mum, so long uninterrupted bursts of work are just not possible.
For example, I love yoga. Prior to becoming pregnant I practiced daily, however throughout my pregnancy I found it really hard to maintain and I just didn't feel like it.
Now I have an 8 month old and the mornings when I enjoyed my practice are taken up with getting her up and ready for the day.
So rather than berating myself for not having 20 minutes or more on my matt, I focus on short simple sessions when I can. Even a 5 minute stretch and I feel happy.
The 5 minutes, is still me showing up. It is me getting back into my practice and it is doable.
Is there something that you keep meaning to get to? What is that thing that is nagging in your mind that just needs some attention? Can you break it down and focus on small steps that you can do consistently?
Rather than trying to walk for 30 minutes a day as a new habit, why not walk for 5 minutes and do that every day for 7 days. Then watch as the habit develops how the time will expand.
Today, my invitation to you is to be a little gentler with yourself. You carry so much already, give yourself a little grace.
Choose one tiny thing, so small it seems too easy to not do.
Do it!
Repeat it.
Build on it.
Watch the magic start to happen.
With love
💛 Emma
